Frivola is an exciting new yarn from the Mondial collection. What is so great about it is that it is well priced, worked on a good sized needle and knits very quickly because you are only knitting the chain between the Pom Poms. You don’t try and pull the Pom Poms through ... this way they become part of the design and are on both sides of your knitting when you work in Garter St. We have worked Frivola along with Dune, Zucca, Crisantemo, Eyelash, Minestrone, Cha Cha or simply all by itself. We have a fun scarf class pattern that uses 6 sts on #13 needle and with 3 skeins of yarn, you are done in under 2 hours. YEAH!!!
If you are working Frivola by itself, you must “knit on” your stitches and not use long tail or butterfly cast on. Using #10 needle, make a slip knot close to the left edge of the 2nd Pom Pom from the end and put loop on the needle. Knit on one additional stitch leading up to third Pom Pom. Skip Pom Pom and create your next 2 stitches on the chain between Pom Pom 3 and 4. Repeat this for as many stitches as you want on the needle. 6sts makes a nice 5” wide scarf. 8sts makes a regular 8” wide scarf. 10sts makes a wrap width of about 12-13”. If you stick with #10 needle, you will knit 3 sts between Pom Poms across the row. If you change to #13 needle, you will knit only 2 sts between Pom Poms across the row. Quick, easy and so much fun!!!!
